Now there is an effective way to control snoring and obstructive sleep apnea without resorting to cumbersome CPAP devices. A small device, similar to an orthodontic appliance, can be an alternative to CPAP machines and, in many cases, be the first choice for treatment of mild to moderate obstructive sleep apnea.
If you or a loved one snores or has had difficulty wearing their medically prescribed CPAP, Dr. Richard Hutchins of Village Green Dental Center has had the years of experience necessary to offer a unique dental solution. Dr. Hutchins is happy to consult with those who feel that they are having a problem with snoring or sleep apnea but have not been diagnosed and as well as those who are unable or unwilling to wear a CPAP unit. Dr. Hutchins also works closely with other dentists in the tri-state area and with family physicians and sleep specialists.
Dr. Hutchins serves the needs of those who snore and have sleep apnea in Aurora and surrounding communities.
Oral Appliances are placed in the mouth and are worn much like an orthodontic appliance or sports mouth protector. They are worn during sleep to prevent the collapse of the tongue and soft tissues in the back of the throat so that the airway stays open during sleep. The appliances promote adequate air intake and help to provide normal sleep in people who snore and have a medical condition known as sleep apnea. Oral appliances can be used alone or in conjunction with other means of therapy such as continuous positive air pressure (CPAP). Determination of proper therapy can only be made by joint consultation of your dentist and sleep physician.
